  We stayed at Cal Badat over a four-day hiking holiday. But for one detail in the kitchen, Cal Badat would be the perfect rental--perfect meaning, no quibbles, no complaints. It's central but quiet (Arnes is a quiet village), spacious, heated in the winter, air-conditioned in the summer, nicely furnished (plenty of local antiques), generously and thoughtfully designed (two sinks in the downstairs bathroom, any number of gadgets in the kitchen, locks on all the doors where you'd want them, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a fireplace, a barbecue, two TVs--we didn't turn them on--plenty of light from outside), and carefully restored (the doors, etc., are all original). The owners run the small grocery store on the ground floor of the building, which means they are easy to find and always have what you need. The fridge is big, the dishwasher helps after a long hike, and there's a washing machine in one of the two bathrooms. The hot water was endless, water pressure good, and each bedroom came with a great stack of towels, including a bathmat. It was also spotless. It sleeps fourteen and was very affordable--20 euros per person per night--at the beginning of Easter week. The hiking is pretty amazing, too.

  Una semana santa fenomenal, la casa muy bien con todo lo que se puede necesitar, la dueña, la Cinta muy amable y generosa , los niños se hicieron dueños del piso de arriba y lo pasaron maravillosamente.

  The one detail in the kitchen? There's no oven (there is a microwave). Then again, the local pastries, sausages, and red wine are pretty great. Don't plan to make pizza or a roast, and you can't go wrong with Cal Badat.
